Kluge House

German-born Emil Kluge came to Helena in 1873 and moved his family into this house, then a one-story abandoned miner's cabin. He salvaged materials to construct the second story using a building technique he brought from his native Prussia. A very rare example of European half-timber construction, the Kluge House is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is located at 540 west Main Street.
