Skiing

In 1941 a small group of Helena skiers chose Belmont Mountain, north of Helena, as a location for a local ski hill. Fifteen years later the club constructed a chalet on the mountain known as Haire-Aire. In 1962 the club inaugurated the first T-bar lift. The Helena area also offers cross-county ski trails on MacDonald and Stemple passes.
